Open

The Open command will allow you to access and continue working on any EES or library file previously saved with the Save or Save As commands.

The default file type has an .EES file name extension or, for the 64-bit license, a .EES64 file name extension.  All problem information (e.g, the equations, the variable information, tables, plots and diagram windows) are saved in EES files.

If the Macro Window is open, you will be prompted to determine if you want to keep the existing Macro Window.

The Professional license of EES can optionally save files in a compressed format that has a .EEZ file name extension for the 32-bit license and a .EEZ64 file name extension for the 64-bit versions.  The Open command will open and read compressed files with or without the Professional license.

The Open command can also open Library files that contain Functions, Procedures and/or Subprograms.  32-bit Library files have a .LIB file name extension whereas 64-bit library files are identified with a .LIB64 file name extension.

You can also open text files that have a .TXT extension.  In this case, however, EES assumes that the file only contains text information which you wish to read into the Equations window.

The format is selected with drop-down control in the File Open dialog window.  Select the file you wish to open by clicking on its name.  The current Windows File Open dialog integrates a number of features such as favorite folders and search capabilities that you may wish to take advantage of.

After opening a file, EES will next attempt to compile the equations appearing in the Equations window.  You can prevent the compilation, if you wish, by holding down the Ctrl key when selecting the Open command and keeping it depressed until the file is completely read.
