EES has two functions designated for analyzing basic heat exchangers and balanced flow regenerators. They represent two of the most common analysis methods: effectiveness-NTU and log mean temperature difference.

Additional functions are provided capability to model counter-flow heat exchangers with axial conduction, counter-flow heat exchangers with cross flow headers and regenerators.
